The Problem with Traditional Progressive MP4 Video Hosting
Hosting raw MP4 video files on generic web servers or cloud storage buckets is a recipe for terrible user experience. When a viewer on a 4G or 5G mobile connection presses play, the browser must sequentially download a massive multi-megabyte file. If the mobile connection fluctuates from 20 Mbps down to 2 Mbps, playback freezes, displaying the dreaded spinning buffering wheel.
Modern video engineering solves this fundamentally through HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) Adaptive Bitrate Architecture.
How HLS Adaptive Bitrate Transcoding Works
When you upload a master 1080p video file to SanghTech Stream, our distributed cloud encoding cluster automatically segments and compresses the video into multiple standardized bitrate renditions:
| Resolution Profile | Target Video Bitrate | Audio Bitrate | Optimal Network Environment |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p Full HD | 4,500 kbps | 192 kbps AAC | High-speed Fiber Broadband & 5G Wi-Fi |
| 720p HD | 2,400 kbps | 128 kbps AAC | Standard 4G Mobile Data & Office LAN |
| 480p SD | 1,000 kbps | 96 kbps AAC | Moderate 3G/4G Cellular Connections |
| 360p Mobile Low | 500 kbps | 64 kbps AAC | Weak Cellular Signals & Rural Connectivity |
The video player receives a master .m3u8 playlist. Every 3 seconds, the player checks real-time network latency: if the viewer enters an elevator or mobile dead zone, the stream gracefully downshifts from 1080p to 480p in milliseconds without pausing video playback.
Direct-to-Cloud Presigned Upload Architecture
Uploading a 4 GB video file through a standard web server frequently causes server memory timeouts and crashes. SanghTech Stream leverages Cryptographically Signed Direct Uploads:
// Step 1: Request Presigned Upload URL from SanghTech API
POST /v1/videos/upload-request
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_SECRET_KEY
Content-Type: application/json
{
"title": "Quantum Physics Lecture 04",
"domain_lock": ["academy.yoursite.com"],
"generate_captions": true
}
// Response
{
"video_id": "vid_9842aef78c",
"upload_url": "https://upload.sanghtech.com/direct/presigned?token=xyz...",
"status": "ready_for_upload"
}
The client's browser or mobile app uploads chunks directly to high-throughput cloud storage. Once upload completes, SanghTech fires a real-time webhook (video.encoding.completed) back to your application server.
SDK Integration Across Web, iOS and Android
Whether building an educational app in Flutter, React Native, Swift, or web frameworks, integrating playback is effortless:
- Web: Works out of the box with standard Video.js, Plyr, or Hls.js web players.
- Android: Native ExoPlayer integration with hardware-accelerated decoding.
- iOS: Full native AVPlayer support with AirPlay compatibility.
